FLYING BRANCH

For a career in flying, the IAF offers unlimited avenues. The sheer variety of aircraft in the Air Force inventory   is mind boggling. National Defence Academy

One of the premier Inter-Service Training Institutions of the world, it has a three - year course before one is inducted as a Pilot Trainee at the Air Force Academy.
Age Limit :- 16 ½ to 19 years
Educational Qualifications :-	Minimum 10 + 2 with Physics and Mathematics.
Entrance :- Through a written examination conducted by UPSC followed by a Services Selection Board interview for those who pass the written examination.

Advertisement itinerary :-  In the month of April/ November by UPSC. The format of application will be available in the Employment News. At the end of the NDA Course the candidate is awarded a B Sc degree by Pune University.

Air Force Academy (CDSE)

Age Limit :- 19 to 23 years

Educational Qualifications :- B Sc (Physics and/ or Mathematics) or B E.
(You should be a B Sc (Maths) or B Sc (Physics)).

Entrance :- Through a written examination conducted by UPSC followed by a Services Selection Board interview for those who pass the written examination.

National Cadet Corps

Age Limit :- 19 to 23 years

TECHNICAL BRANCH

Technical Officers : Electronics Stream The Indian Air Force holds some of the most sophisticated aircraft and equipment on its inventory.This highly complex and most advanced technological hardware requires an equally skilled and motivated engineering staff to maintain them at the highest level of operati- onal readiness. The Engineering Staff, has under their ambit, a formidable array of responsibility which apart from the aircraft, also include the weapon systems, communication systems, the missile systems and a variety of modern radars and support equip- ment. They also maintain one of the most sophisticated and advanced electronic network which is necessary to keep the IAF in operational readi- ness. To manage the entire gamut of resources calls for mana- gerial skill of the highest order. An Engineer who enters the Air Force as a Flying Officer has his baptism by fire since he is directed headlong into the challenging world of engineering activities.

UNIVERSITY ENTRY SCHEME

Under this Scheme the candidates are selected to join the Aeronautical Engineering Branches for Permanent or Short Service Commission while in the Pre-Final/ Final Year of their study in the Engineering Colleges. The selected  candidates are paid a stipend equivalent to the basic pay of Flying Officer for Permanent Commission during their final year’s study in the College.   Candidates selected for Short Service Commission are also entitled to a stipend equivalent to half the basic pay of a Flying Officer.

GROUND DUTY BRANCHES

The IAF is a multifaceted service. Apart from the rich array of aircraft and sophisticated equipment, the service also has a reservoir of highly trained and qualified manpower whose contribution towards maintaining the force in a state of high operational readiness cannot be over-emphasised.   The multifarious roles played by the Ground Duty Officers include Administration, Logistics, Accounts, Education and Meteorology. They play a crucial role in ensuring that the organisation ticks along like a well oiled machine.   The job encompasses general administration, construction and management of infrastructure, air traffic control, fighter combat control, logistics management, provision of enhanced educational facilities for career development and weather analysis and forecasting.

Candidates with an MBA or Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (Two year full time or three years part time course from Institutes recognised by All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) with 50 % and above marks and between the age group of 20 to 25 years can also apply. For Law graduates (three year course) with 50 % and above marks the age is relaxable to 26 years.   Candidates with the qualification of LLB (five year course) with 50 % marks and above can also apply provided they are in the age group of 20 to 25 years.

Entrance :-	Through Psychological Tests, Group Tests and an Interview conducted 
at any one of the Air Force Selection Boards located at Dehradun, Mysore or Varanasi 
for a period of 4 to 6 days at our cost.   Prior to attending the AFSB tests a Screening 
Test (Engineering Knowledge Test) for all eligible candidates at your own cost is 
conducted at various Air Force units all over the country. Only those candidates who

Educational Qualifications :-   Graduates with 60 % and above marks and Post Graduates with 50 % and above marks. Candidates with an MBA or Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (Two year full time or three years part time course from Institutes recognised by All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) with 50 % and above marks and between the age group of 20 to 25 years can also apply.  For Law graduates (three year course) with 50 % and above marks the age is relaxable to 26 years. Candidates with the qualification of LLB (five year course)  with 50 % marks and above can also apply provided they are in the age  group of 20 to 25 years.
